This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Waynebert (the "App") processes and why, and sets out your rights under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. It reflects how the App actually works: most processing happens on your own device, and what leaves your machine depends entirely on the setup you choose.
The App is operated by Michael Gregory, a sole trader trading as "Waynebert", based in the United Kingdom ("we", "us", "our"). Where we determine how and why your personal data is processed, we are the data controller. You can contact us about privacy at [email protected].
If you configure the App to run speech-to-text, the language model, and text-to-speech locally, your voice, screen captures, and conversation never leave your device. We do not receive, transmit, or store any of it, and no personal data is processed by us in this mode.
If you configure the App with your own API key for a provider such as OpenAI or Anthropic, your transcript and screen captures are sent directly from your device to that provider under their own privacy policy and terms. We do not see, receive, or store this data.
When the optional hosted Waynebert account becomes available, using it will involve us processing personal data as controller. This section will take effect when the feature launches, and we will confirm the details here before it does.
Data we will process:
Why we process it and our legal basis:
The App keeps conversation history and memory files on your own device so it can recall past sessions. This data stays local unless your configuration sends it to a remote provider as described above. You can review, edit, or clear it at any time in the App.
Purchases are handled by Paddle.com Market Limited, our merchant of record. Paddle collects and processes your payment details directly as its own controller under its privacy notice; we do not receive or store your card information.
Depending on the mode you use, your data may be shared with:
We do not sell your personal data.
Some providers we or you rely on (including model providers) may process data outside the UK. Where we transfer personal data internationally as controller, we will rely on an appropriate safeguard recognised under UK data protection law — such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement / Addendum — so that your data remains protected.
We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes above: account and credit data for as long as you have an account and then for any period required for our records; transaction records for as long as tax and accounting law requires; and service content only as long as needed to process your request, save where we are required to retain it.
Under UK data protection law you have the right to: access your personal data; have inaccurate data corrected; have your data erased; restrict or object to processing; data portability; and, where processing is based on consent, to withdraw that consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email [email protected] and we will respond within the time limits set by law.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the UK's supervisory authority, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk — though we would appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.
Our marketing website does not set non-essential cookies. If we add analytics or other non-essential cookies in future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where required. [Confirm this reflects your current site setup and adjust if you add analytics.]
The App and hosted account are not directed at children. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to purchase a hosted Waynebert account.
We may update this policy as the product develops, particularly once the hosted Waynebert account launches. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date above and post the new version here.
Questions about this policy can be sent to [email protected].
